NICEIC and SELECT have launched an information platform for the Scottish building services industry, www.sbsc.uk.net, which allows companies to register as Approved Bodies, appoint Certifiers and gives them the ability to manage the Certification process.
Scottish Building Standards legislation allows the appointment of Approved Certifiers for Design (building structures) and Construction (electrical installations to BS7671). This removes the need for the detailed scrutiny of designs or inspections by verifiers.
Properly qualified professionals can become Approved Certifiers with the authority to certify work for building warrant purposes. Only Scheme Providers, such as SELECT and NICEIC can appoint Approved Certifiers for the Certification of Construction (electrical installations to BS7671) scheme.
“We are delighted to partner SELECT in this initiative for Scotland,” comments Angus Moir, Chief Operating Officer, NICEIC Group. “SBSC is a convenient service for the industry and enables a quicker and easier Certification process for contractors.”
Newell McGuiness, Managing Director of SELECT says “We know that Certification is already raising standards and this new initiative will provide a much clearer focus for verifiers, contractors and other prospective Scheme Providers to really raise their game and fully deliver the benefits that Scottish society deserves”
