Approved Contractors at all time high

NICEIC

NICEIC, the electrical contracting industry’s voluntary regulatory body, has announced that the number of contractors registered on its roll of Approved Contractors is at an all time high.

“There are now more than 14,000 Approved Contractors and I am delighted that, with a pedigree of over 50 years, the number is growing all the time,” says Jim Speirs, NICEIC Group chief executive. “To be an Approved Contractor offers peace of mind for specifiers in both the public and private sectors and can win contractors more business.”

The NICEIC Approved Contractor scheme has been in operation since 1956 with the aim of protecting everyone who uses electricity from unsafe electrical installations in their homes, places of work and leisure.

Contractors voluntarily register with the scheme and are rigorously assessed to UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) standards. Assessment covers a representative sample of the contractor’s work, their premises, documentation, equipment, and the competence of their key supervisory staff.  Once contractors become registered with NICEIC, they are re-assessed on a regular basis to ensure continued compliance.

Industry leading technical advice, publications, products and access to training are just some of the added value benefits of becoming an Approved Contractor. For more details on NICEIC’s Approved Contractor scheme telephone 0870 013 0382 or visit www.niceic.com.
