The IET’s Geoff Cronshaw examines the impact of the 17th Edition in this article originally published in the IET’s magazine Wiring Matters:

In this article, Geoff Cronshaw looks at the impact that some of the changes expected in BS 7671:2008, the IEE Wiring Regulations (17th Edition), will have on the design, erection and verification of electrical installations.

This article was generally based on the Draft for Public Comment (DPC)and, therefore, some of the actual requirements have changed. Even so, the article still provides an excellent indication of some of the main points that will affect electrical contractors and installers.
