Question: Who is able to issue Electrical Integrity Safety Certificates for commercial or industrial buildings? Also, who is able to issue Electrical Integrity Safety Certificates & the qualification need for commercial or industrial buildings (specifically, in this case, a cold-store in a warehouse)?
Answer: I presume that you mean an Electrical Installation Certificate stating compliance with BS 7671? If so, the responsible electrical contractor should issue this upon completion of work to the person ordering the work. Commercial and industrial work is outside the scope of the Part P scheme, but work would come under the Electricity at Work Regulations. Qualification for this would be a suitably experienced and qualified competent electrician - This may be an electrician registered with the JIB, or a qualified electrician by other route - but both would probably require to have up-to-date BS 7671 knowledge, and certainly knowledge of inspection and test procedures - C & G 2381 qualified and C & G 2391 qualified.
