Thirteen Housing Executive tenants living at Carnfinton Park, Rasharkin are to have new kitchens and bathrooms installed in their homes.
Mairead Myles Davey, Ballymoney District Manager, has welcomed the recently awarded contract which represents investment of more than £246,000 in this rural housing area. Commenting on the scheme, Mairead Myles Davey said:
"I am delighted that this contract has been awarded. The work will mean that these homes have modern facilities, designed to better suit the needs of everyday living.
In planning the scheme, the Housing Executive's North East Design Team has rearranged the internal layout to ensure best use of space and to improve facilities for residents. The contract will also include rewiring the properties, installing smoke detectors and upgrading loft insulation.
We consulted residents in advance of the scheme, to discuss proposals and to give tenants an opportunity to choose from a selection of kitchen finishes and colours. We also took account, where possible, of any particular needs that individual residents may have.
Schemes of this nature are an important part of the Housing Executive's objective to improve living conditions for its tenants, in both urban and rural locations. The contract at Carnfinton Park demonstrates our commitment to this aim locally."
The scheme has also been welcomed by Rasharkin Community Association where a member commented:
"It is always good to see investment coming into the village. The new, modern facilities will be welcomed at Carnfinton Park and I hope that the contract will run smoothly, so that residents can enjoy their 'new homes' as soon as possible."
