Question: I have a customer who wants to change his current 70W SON lamp lighting system to low energy lighting. The lighting is used to floodlight the front of his restaurant. I have suggested that SON 40W lamps would be his best choice but he doesn't want the expense of changing his fittings. Is there a compromise? Can I run SON 40s off the current control gear?

Answer: I am not aware of any 40W son lamp or associated control gear.

However, assuming that there is one, you should NOT put a bulb in that is rated lower then the rating of the control gear!
