Question: My question concerns the use of switchgear in a small day care centre. I would estimate the supply capacity to the centre to be around 60kVA. A 400V power supply will be provided to the building.

How do I decide what switchgear I should specify? Is it purely based on current? In that case, I would require a distribution board after the local utility's meter wouldn't I?

Answer: Thank you for your enquiry. We would recommend our 125A Memshield 2 three-phase MCB distribution board for this application, together with a 100A rated incoming switch disconnector - provided that the electricity supply company fuses are rated at 100A (or less).

The appropriate number of outgoing ways, together with the MCBs and RCBOs for the lighting and power circuits can then be selected. Please contact our Technical Help Line on 08700 545 333 for further information. Memshield 2 distribution boards are widely available via the Eaton MEM distributor network.
