When you are measuring externally, you have few choices.
1) You could guess or pace it out - We all know how costly that can be?
2) Use a tape measure - Then you need more than one person, a ladder, scaffolding - Takes time and money! Plus most tapes are not long enough!!!!
3) Use a Leica DISTO™ A5, A6 or A8 - The only true laser distance meter that allows you to see where you are pointing to, accurately, safely and quickly. This is due to the viewfinder on the A5 and A6 and the digital viewfinder on the A8. No other Laser Distance Meter allows you to do this and you won't be able to see the dot in ambient light conditions. Only use the True Original Laser Distance Meter - The Leica DISTO™.
The use of any other device without a viewfinder will not work. The Leica DISTO™ A5, A6 and A8 can measure upto 200 meters with an accuracy of ±1.5mm.

The brightness of the greyscales display can be manually adjusted; ideal for poorly contrasting targets!
