| www.partp.co.uk - to be a 'Competant Person'. |
|
Question: Can you please advise - do I have to be NICEIC registered to issue test certificates? Can I certificate my own domestic work, as an electrician of 16 years experience, with City & Guilds Parts 1 and 2; also 2391 / 01 level 3 practical pass?
Answer: You can only self-certify your own electrical installation work in dwellings under Part P of the Building Regulations if you are registered with a Part P scheme provider. Further information on this is available at www.partp.co.uk
The Contractor area of this website has been designed for firms - or individuals - that carry out fixed electrical installation work in dwellings in England and Wales and want to be able to self-certify that their work complies with the Building Regulations. It is a statutory requirement in England and Wales that 'reasonable provision shall be made in the design and installation of electrical installations in order to protect persons operating, maintaining or altering installations from fire and injury'. This website shows how you can apply to become a 'Competent Person'.
