London 2012 e-alert: Opportunities - Greenway works and data backbone services

The Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) intends to appoint a multi-discipline integrated data networking team to provide a converged data backbone (a Wide Area Network (WAN) made up of Head Office and construction site Local area Networks (LAN)) to support voice, data and video communication services to multiple users on a 700 acre construction site, subdivided into several construction zones. The current enabling works will remove all existing telecommunication lines, so ODA requires a service provider to design, deliver, maintain, operate and if necessary refresh a mobile, scalable, resilient and reliable data backbone. This procurement may subsequently be extended to include responsibility for ODA's WAN.

This project has to support 500 core staff and up to 2000 contractor staff located at seven zones with telecommunications services, and provide data connectivity for several logistic and security systems.  The backbone infrastructure may be used to mount equipment for additional radio and mobile data services (currently outside the scope of this procurement).

The successful bidder will be expected to demonstrate technical competence and logistical capability to deliver the backbone by 1 March 2008 for a period of not less than three years, with priced options to extend beyond that date. The mandatory pre-qualification requirements which be contained in the Contract Notice (CN) and Pre-Qualification Questionnaire (PQQ).

Any supplier interested in pre-qualifying to tender must complete a pre-qualification questionnaire (PQQ) via the eTendering section of the London 2012 website at http://london2012.net/re?l=evwebeI456ruszI0

The deadline for submission of the PQQ responses is 29 October 2007.

Greenway works

The ODA has begun the search for a contractor to carry out the construction work to regenerate the Greenway, the major public walkway running through the heart of the Olympic Park.

This project is key to regenerating the neglected public spaces in and around the Olympic Park area and will improve access with the creation of a key walking and cycling route before, during and after the 2012 Games. The Greenway has been previously been poorly-lit and in a state of disrepair, making it underused by the local community.

The contract is for the improvement work to The Greenway from Wick Lane to Manor Road and will include installing a new footpath/cycleway, fencing, benches and street furniture and treating reclaimed materials from other parts of the Park to use in the new path surface.

For full details see the prequalification questionnaire (PPQ) documentation via the eTendering service at http://london2012.net/re?l=evwebeI456ruszI1

The deadline for completion of the PQQ is 12:00 noon on Wednesday 17 October 2007.
