SummitSkills is encouraging dynamic young female apprentices to step forward and be recognised for their outstanding achievements in the field of engineering by taking part in the IET Young Woman Engineering Apprentice Award 2007, organised by the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET).
Applications are invited from employers or young women who are currently employed on UK Apprenticeships, Young Apprenticeships or Advanced Apprenticeships in electronic, electrical and mechanical engineering. SummitSkills supports the awards because they highlight the value of apprenticeships and the highly skilled individuals that they produce. The winner will be an outstanding apprentice who has excelled in her role, demonstrating enthusiasm, team spirit and a constructive approach to problem solving. She will provide the inspiration for other young women to join the engineering profession through apprenticeships.
The award and prize money will be presented at a national awards ceremony in London in January 2008, generating positive publicity for their employer. The winner will also be invited to attend a series of influential events throughout the year, raising their profile within the engineering industry and providing quality networking opportunities.
The closing date for entries is 21st September 2007. For further information, to nominate or apply, visit www.youngwomanapprentice.org.
