ITW Construction Products join the HAVTEC Register

Working together with the Off-Highway Plant & Equipment Research Centre (OPERC) ITW Construction Products have just become the first manufacturer of Gas and Powder Actuated Tools to have their products vibration levels independently tested and published on the HAVTEC (Hand Arm Vibration Test Centre) register.

This action has been as a direct result of the registers official sponsors the Major Contractors Group (MGC), implementing a process, stating all plant or equipment used on a MCG site anywhere in the UK must have vibration levels independently assessed, rather than the standard manufacturer’s data which is viewed as biased and not representative of "real life" exposure levels.

In order to comply with this ruling, ITW CP has worked closely with OPERC at their base Loughborough University to test tools from the Paslode Impulse, Spit Pulsa and Spit PAT ranges under real working conditions the results provide an independent assessment of the hand arm vibration (HAV) exposure operatives experience from using them.

The tools tested are ideally suited to a range of professional users within the construction industry with the Paslode Impulse range of cordless gas nailers perfect for on-site timber to timber nailing applications and the Spit Pulsa gas nailers and Spit PAT tools ideal for fixing into steel and concrete.

Plus, as these tools all use direct fixing technology the need for drills and the associated HAV health risks that come with them can be significantly reduced. And now with data published on the HAVTEC register managers can see this for themselves and access dependable user friendly information which will help them to assess the affects of vibration on their operatives.

The HAVTEC register can be accessed by registered users via www.operc.com. For more information please contact ITWCP directly on 0800 731 4924 or visit www.itwcp.co.uk.

ITW Construction Products will also exhibiting their Paslode and Spit ranges at Interbuild this year from the 28th October to the 1st November in Hall 4 Stand D75
