The Institution of Engineering and Technology, Europe’s largest professional engineering society, has today announced the results of the ballot for its Board of Trustees.
Mr. Hamish Bell and Dr. N. F. Chin have been elected as Vice Presidents; Miss Marguerite Fitzgerald and Mr. Andy Stringer have been elected to the board as Ordinary Members. All appointments take effect from 1 October 2007
Mr. Bell, of Aylesbury, is an active member of the IET and has served on the Institution’s Council and various boards. His career encompasses senior positions in computer design, software, complex systems and marketing.
Dr. Chin, 57, is Director, PowerNets Marketing Limited, in Hong Kong. A graduate in Electrical and Electronic engineering from Strathclyde University, Dr. Chin has served on the IET Hong Kong Committee since its formation in 1988 and became chairman in 1992. He has also served a three year term with EC(UK)’s International Advisory Panel.
Miss Fitzgerald, 29, of Melbourne, Australia, is a strategy consultant with the Boston Consulting Group having previously worked in the power industry as a project engineer. She joined the Institution as a student and was instrumental in establishing the first Younger Members Section in Australia.
Mr. Andy Stringer, 32, of Kidderminster, read Electronic Engineering at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and has worked as a railway signal engineer in Britain, Germany and the Netherlands. He is currently a project engineering manager for Westinghouse Rail Systems. He is a Science and Engineering Ambassador working with schools to promote technology based careers.
