Saving lives, excelling at customer service and preventing crime through the use of the latest technology are all in a day's work for the winners of the British Security Industry Association's Annual Security Officer Awards:

The 'cream of the UK's security officers' have been recognised in a glittering ceremony.

"The BSIA's Annual Security Officer Awards demonstrate that professionalism is at the heart of the security guarding industry in the UK," says BSIA Chief Executive, David Dickinson. "It is clear to me from the achievements of the officers and teams that we are recognising today, that security officers make a very real difference to the day-to-day lives of ordinary people. They are unsung heroes, but are essential to the functioning and well-being of UK plc and deserve to be recognised for their achievements."

Sir Ronnie Flanagan GBE MA, HM Chief Inspector of Constabulary, presented the winners with their awards in the following categories: Service to the Customer, Outstanding Act, Best Newcomer, Best Use of Technology and Best Team.

The BSIA would like to thank Camberford Law plc - specialist insurance brokers to the security industry - for sponsoring the awards for the ninth successive year.
