Multi discipline engineering company Cross Services Engineering Limited (CSEL) has helped build and bring to full operation a new production facility for world renowned polymer manufacturer Victrex:

This project encompassed delivering electrical packages in a self contained manufacturing facility, before assisting in the installation of critical production machinery.

Victrex is the manufacturer of Victrex PEEK, a leading highly durable and versatile polymer used for a wide range of insulation materials and mechanical components in aerospace, automotive, electronics and food processing applications.

When the company required a new facility for the production of its PEEK Film product, main contractor Addison Projects turned to CSEL to deliver a number of electrical systems to guarantee the safe and effective operation of its two storey, self-contained production plant.

Lightning protection, lighting, power & HVAC:

CSEL, working to the design specification of Addison Projects, installed new distribution, lightning protection, lighting and small power systems as well as a HVAC system across the plant, ensuring the site's management office, welfare areas and production floor were safe for work, and provided a comfortable environment for Victrex employees. It was also responsible for installing the smoke detectors and high specification fire alarm system. In addition, to minimise the risk of surface mounted equipment at the site, CSEL and Addison Projects worked closely to install all electrical points at a correct and safe level.

The second phase of the project involved the installation and commissioning of a film extrusion and rolling machine that was central to the production process of PEEK Film. As Victrex had a number of customer pre-orders to fulfil, time was of the essence. Working alongside machine manufacturer Davies Standard, CSEL engineers installed the electrical components of the machine, ensuring that the electrical supply met all necessary specifications. This allowed production to begin at the site on schedule.

Brian Greenhalgh, project manager for CSEL commented: "Having completed many industrial projects for clients such as Saffil, laxoSmithKline and Pilkington, CSEL is well positioned to undertake projects with a demanding brief and tight project deadlines, and we welcome such opportunities."
