With “state of the art” head offices in Hertfordshire (very accessible from the M25/excellent links to/from London) + regional offices across the UK as well as Europe, Japan + the US, the company continues to invest in R+D in order to maintain its leading position in this exciting sector.
Due to increased business expansion activity they are now looking to recruit an experienced Electrical Design Manager to work in their electrical engineering team.
The Role
The electrical engineering team undertakes electrical power system design for all their wind farms constructed in the UK, Ireland and Sweden. Reporting to the Group Chief Engineer, the Electrical Design Manager will lead the existing team of highly qualified and experienced electrical design engineers. Technical competence will be an important aspect of the role together with strong team leadership and the ability to organise & manage the resources of the team to achieve project deadlines and objectives.
The main functions of the role will be to manage:
- The day to day workload of the electrical design & analysis team.
- All in-house study work including load flow, voltage profile, harmonic resonance, insulation coordination and other EMT calculations using DIGSILENT analysis software.
- In-house and external earthing design.
- The delivery of electrical designs and studies to the construction project team.
- Any electrical design and study work carried out by subcontractors.
In addition, the role will involve:
- Implementing design processes and procedures and updating these as appropriate.
- Undertake electrical designs.
The Person
The ideal candidate for this role will have a degree in electrical engineering and should be able to demonstrate:
- A proven track record in electrical power systems design and analysis, including sub-station and underground cable networks operating at or above 33kV.
- The ability to manage a team of engineers working in different locations and on multiple projects.
