This contract comprises establishing three new 275kV transformer bays, one 275kV feeder bay and six 33kV feeder bays at Whitelee substation, situated on land around Eaglesham Moor, south of Glasgow, and one 275kV feeder bay at East Kilbride South substation using outdoor air insulated switchgear.  Each of the bays includes the provision of outdoor primary plant, control and protection panels, multicore cables, busbars and connectors, earthing and ancillary equipment.  Cruickshanks will design and manufacture the control and protection panels and structures at its Kintore facility.

The 17-month contract which is due for completion in November 2007 also includes design work for interfacing with Scottish Power Energy Networks’ third party suppliers and Wind Farm developer CRE Energy Ltd, a subsidiary of Scottish Power Energy Networks Ltd, during the construction phases of the contract.

John Bochel Cruickshanks’ unit director said: "As principal contractor we will undertake site works including site management, electrical installation, testing and commissioning on these prestigious projects.  We will also be working under live conditions at East Kilbride South substation so careful planning will be the top priority to ensure the safe delivery of the contract, maintaining our excellent safety record."

Works will be carried out from the Kintore office and managed by Duncan Shepherd.
