On 22 April, nine runners representing electrical manufacturing, contracting, wholesaling and other associated industries, ran the hottest London Marathon on record in support of industry charity, EEIBA. And between them, they will have raised well over £10,000 and perhaps as much as £15,000 for those in need.

Keith Smith, Sales Director, Eaton Electrical, completed the course in 4 hours 1 minute – an extremely creditable time for one who is definitely over forty! And Russell Hirst, who works for London York, ran the 26 miles in 5 hours 51 minutes dressed as a penguin! This was not his first marathon and he actually claims that he enjoyed this one more than others.
Other EEIBA runners were: Tom Fenton and William Foreman - LED Group, Paul Franklin - HEM Electrical Services, Philip Hardy - Quo Vadis, Stefano Perego - Rexel Senate, Peter Willsher - Edmundson Electrical, Doncaster and Della Warrener.
Golden Bonds The London Marathon 2008, will take place on 13 April and as usual, EEIBA will have a number of Golden Bonds which allow virtually automatic entry for those who are prepared to gather sponsorship and raise funds to help those from our industry who have fallen upon difficult times. But it is, ‘first come first served’.
So whilst it is not quite time to commence training, if you would like to run the marathon for EEIBA in 2008, then register your interest with Kim on: 020 8673 9821 or by email at: fundraising@eeiba.org
Editor’s note:
- EEIBA is a registered charity (1012131) and has applied for registration with the office of The Scottish Charity Regulator
- Supporters raise funds for their industry charity
- Support and advice for people in need throughout the UK is the EEIBA’s mission
