Taking place at The Hotel Russell, London, on 24th and 25th April, the conference is an important date in the building services calendar. Delegates will hear from esteemed speakers from organisations such as the London Climate Change Agency, Thames Gateway, The Carbon Trust, British Property Federation and DCLG. The evening reception and Gala Dinner will be held at Lincoln’s Inn, one of the prestigious Inns of Court.
Opportunities to meet new employers and new staff The major issue for design consultancies today is recruitment. With a sudden increase in the number of new projects starting work, and the brain drain caused by the departure of so many senior practitioners to Dubai, finding staff to carry out today’s work, and suitable recruits to train for tomorrow, is a near impossible task. Fortunately help is at hand. All CIBSE student members and Young Engineers have been invited to attend the National Conference. That means that the best and brightest can be at the event bringing their enthusiasm and creativity and can, in turn use the opportunity not only to gain insights from experts, but also to meet many prospective employers. As the student attendance at the event has grown year on year many recruiters find it a perfect opportunity to meet the building services students both full and part time who may be the perfect new recruits. The conference also features a breakfast for the Young Engineers Network which is sponsored by Hays recruitment, CIBSE’s recruitment partner.
With an opening keynote address from the Deputy Mayor of London, Nicky Gavron, this year’s programme includes two days of invited presentations from over 25 leading experts in the construction industry. For the first time, the event will feature panel discussion sessions with high level speakers which will provide topical content and lively debate on key issues including the Stern Review, the Climate Change Bill and the Code for Sustainable Homes.
