Voltimum began its successful enterprise in October 2000, going live in February 2003 with six European countries on board, including  France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, and the UK.  Austria then added their portal to Voltimum’s flourishing network in April 2004.

Currently, over 222,500 people are active registered users of Voltimum, the first European portal for the electrical industry.

Supported by seven leading manufacturers of electrical industry products (ABB, Legrand, Nexans, Osram, Philips, Prysmian and Schneider Electric), Voltimum can offer users top-of-the-line industry updates that are quick and easily accessible.

The Marketing and Managing Directors of Voltimum Ireland’s seven founding shareholders met last week to discuss the future of the new portal, recognizing the needs of the prospective registered users.

'As a founder member of Voltimum, Philips are absolutely delighted that we have now launched an Irish site," said Cel O'Reilly, Managing Director of Philips Lighting Ireland. "Voltimum has been tremendously successful across Europe in bringing product knowledge, a technical help desk and training opportunities to the industry.  Now this expertise is available to all Irish contractors."

Founding shareholder Schneider Electric Ireland was also very pleased about Voltimum's newest portal.  Said Jim Rice, Managing Director of Schneider Electric Ireland: "Schneider Electric Ireland is very happy to be working with Voltimum, which aims to be the reference in Ireland for on-line news and product information and related services to the electrical installation market."

The launch campaign for Voltimum Ireland will include full coverage of the May 19th AECI Conference to be held in Athlone, County Westmeath.  VoltiTV will also be there, providing those who are unable to attend (as well as those who couldn’t get enough) an opportunity to stay informed through an innovative and interactive approach to source industry news.

Voltimum is far more than just news, however. From extensive product catalogues to career and training opportunities, the portal satisfies users with a vast array of Ireland-specific industry information.

Voltimum’s registered users are also offered the option to receive informative monthly e-letters.  VoltiNEWS covers breaking industry news, events, and products and VoltiBULLETIN offers users valuable expert advice on one technical or legislative issue.

Users requiring more specific technical expertise can find their answers through Voltimum.  Questions are directly sent to the appropriate manufacturer and are sent back with helpful advice.

For those who love prizes, Voltimum regularly gives registered users a chance to win a plethora of goodies, presenting yet another reason to stay connected.
