The Building Regulations are made under powers provided in the Building Act 1984, and apply in England and Wales. The current edition of the regulations is 'The Building Regulations 2000' (as amended) and the majority of building projects are required to comply with them.

Who should attend?

This one-day course provides an introduction to the Building Regulations in England and Wales and is intended for anyone proposing to carry out building projects. The primary responsibility for achieving compliance with the regulations rests with the person carrying out the building work and the course will therefore be of interest to those who are involved in the building process and need an overview understanding of the Regulations.

The course aim and content:

The course does not interpret the law but is intended to help attendees to understand the system. The content includes an overview of the Building Regulations:

  • Part F - Ventilation.
  • Part G - Hygiene.
  • Part H - Drainage.
  • Part J - Combustion Appliances.
  • Part L - Conservation of Fuel and power.
  • Part M - Access.
  • Part P - Electrical Safety.
  • Regulation 7 - Materials and Workmanship.

Learning outcomes:

Delegates will have an overall understanding of the Building Regulations in general and some of the individual Approved Documents in particular. They will be provided with a training pack containing a copy of the overheads. The course fee includes lunch and refreshments.

Prices:

Non-member Price are £265 + VAT (£311.37), and £200 + VAT (£235.00) for a second delegate. For BSRIA members, the price is £210 + VAT (£246.75), and £175 + VAT (£205.62) for a second delegate.
