A one-day course designed to provide an understanding of the background, structure and objectives of Part L of the Building Regulations (2006 edition) and how the amendments will affect work within dwellings and non-domestic buildings.
Designed for Owners, Directors, Sole traders, Managers, Engineers and others with a responsibility for the design, installation, commissioning and/or the maintenance of fixed electrical installations and building services systems in dwellings and buildings other than dwellings.
Aims
- To give candidates a general awareness of the need for sustainability and energy efficiency
- To give an overview of the requirements of Part L of the Building Regulations 2000 (as amended)
- To give an introduction to the changes that affect electrical installations and building services systems within buildings
Objectives At the end of the course delegates should be able to:
- Define the main aims of sustainability and the need for energy efficiency
- Identify the structure of Building Regulations
- Describe the structure of Part L of the Building Regulations and why and how it has been amended.
- Identify the main parts of Part L of the Building Regulations and list the differences between them
- State how compliance with the various parts of Part L of the Building Regulations can be demonstrated
- Explain the basic requirements for the provision of operating and maintenance instructions and information on energy efficient operation of buildings
- Define the meaning of the term “Competent person” and basic requirements for Self Certification for compliance with Part L of the Building Regulations
