A complete range of enclosed controls for motors, heating and lighting is now available from Eaton. The latest ADS8 starters include DOL units up to 15kW and star-delta units up to 25kW.

Enclosed controls for motors, heating and lighting

Following the successful launch of its 9kW ADS8 enclosed direct-on-line starters just over a year ago, Eaton is now offering a complete range of robust, modern control gear for motors, heating and lighting. The new ADS8 direct-on-line starters are now available in AC3 ratings up to 15kW and there are star-delta starters up to 25kW, enclosed contactors for heating and lighting control, pushbutton control units and local disconnectors (rotary isolators.)

The new ADS8 starters are housed in a robust pressed steel IP54 surface metalclad enclosure, similar to that which made the ADS7 range a firm favourite for arduous conditions. Fixing centres and gland entry positions are identical to the ADS7 units, to facilitate replacement. However, the contactors and relays are an improved design to the international standard, BS EN IEC 60947-4-1.

The range now includes 9, 11 and 15kW DOL units, with or without switch disconnect, and 9 and 11kW reversing starters. Star-delta starters have also been introduced for 15, 22 or 25kW duty. The 9kW DOL unit is also available in an IP65 moulded enclosure. Overload relays are supplied separately, enabling distributors to stock a smaller number of starters and yet cover a wide range of applications.

Ease of installation is a major feature. There is generous wiring space within the enclosures and contactors have a quick-release mounting that involves releasing two screws to remove them from the enclosure. All internal screws have dual flat/cross-slot heads.

Eaton’s Autoline enclosed heating and lighting contactors have also been replaced by modern units to IEC EN 60947 and IEC 408, in metalclad IP55 enclosures. They are available in single-pole, two-pole and four-pole versions in AC1 ratings from 25A to 112A, for heating and general mixed low-inductance loads, or 12-50A AC5a duty for lighting.

Pushbutton control units and local disconnectors are also included in the range, offering specifiers and installers a complete package of general-purpose controls for motors, heating and lighting.

The pushbutton control units are housed in IP65 moulded enclosures and include simple green ‘Start’ buttons and red ‘Stop’ buttons. There are also start/stop units and latching (push-to-latch, turn-to-release) stop units, three-button forward-reverse-stop or up-down-stop units, and two-position key-operated switches.

Finally, the local disconnectors are available in two-pole to eight-pole configurations and ratings from 20A to 63A. They have rotary switching action and are offered in IP65 moulded or IP 54 metalclad enclosures.

“The ADS7 starter range has served the market well for more than 20 years and the ADS series has a pedigree going back many years” says Chris Pack, Eaton’s Product Line Manager. “The new ADS8 starters, Autoline contactors and associated pushbuttons and disconnectors offer the industry a modern range of products to international standards that should carry us forward well into the next decade.”
