Automatic IP55-rated sealing without the need for cable glands, rugged construction using environmentally friendly materials, and easy installation are among the many benefits offered by the new Mureva range of junction boxes from Sarel, a division of Schneider Electric.
Available in rectangular versions from 65 x 65 x 45mm to 325 x 275 x 120mm, and in round 60mm diameter versions, Mureva junction boxes can be supplied in grey or white for standard applications. These versions have an incandescent wire resistance of 650°C. For safety circuits, the range also includes red boxes which have an enhanced incandescent wire resistance of 950°C.
Sarel`s Mureva junction boxes are supplied, as standard, with stepped membrane cable entries. These entries accommodate cables up to 14mm in diameter and, when a cable is inserted, they automatically provide a seal around it, without the need for tightening or other manual operations. This results in big savings in wiring time.
For applications where conventional cable entries are preferred, Sarel offers boxes with knock outs, and compatible IP65-rated glands are available as an accessory. Boxes with smooth walls are also included in the range.
Lids on all versions are held captive during wiring by a removable flexible link, which prevents them being lost or mislaid. When wiring is complete, the lids are secured in place with time-saving quarter-turn screws which have an integrated position indicator that provides instant visual confirmation of correct tightening.
Optionally available with terminal blocks ready fitted to provide further time savings, Mureva junction boxes can be mounted using conventional plugs and screws, or with the aid of power or gas nailers. For the larger sizes of boxes, accessory fixing lugs permit the use of external fixings.
In addition to IP65 cable glands, accessories offered by Sarel for its new range of Mureva junction boxes include coupling kits which allow boxes to be easily joined together for larger applications, terminal blocks, mounting plates, blanking plugs, cable duct connectors and self-adhesive labels.
