Paris, July 19, 2006 - Nexans, the worldwide leader in the cable industry, has recently been awarded a frame agreement for the supply of copper and optical fibre telecommunication cables to Citrus Solutions, a subsidiary of the Latvian telecom operator Lattelekom (Latvia’s leading provider of electronic communications services).  This two-year frame agreement is worth approximately 1 million euros a year.

Nexans: a complete range of telecommunications cables
The Citrus Solutions frame agreement covers a wide range of outdoor telecommunication copper cables with enhanced transmission characteristics to support Lattelekom’s xDSL deployment, as well as indoor cables with LSZH (low smoke zero halogen) sheathing.

The range of fiber optic cables covers designs for underground and aerial installation as well as LSZH sheathed combined indoor/outdoor installation. All cables are fitted with fibers according to the new standard ITU-T G.652D.

A key contract
The agreement is important for several reasons. First, it supports Nexans' strategy to be an attractive partner by providing expertize close to local customers. “We chose Nexans because they have both advanced products and a good logistics service, which means we can have deliveries within two days via their hub in Sweden”, says Andrejs Reinikovs, Purchasing Projects Manager at Citrus Solutions.

In addition, the agreement is in line with Nexans' expansion ambitions. “This contract breaks new ground for Nexans in the Baltic region and confirms our xDSL expertize, both of which are prioritised growth initiatives for Nexans, in line with our strategic plan". says Stefan Olsson, Nexans Country Manager for Sweden, Denmark, Finland and the Baltic countries.
