Launch of science and technology reports

Multifunctional materials is one of five reports launched by Materials UK, the representative body for the UK materials community:

This report (and others) identify new opportunities for creating a sustainable future. The DTI has supported and encouraged a materials focus by establishing the Science & Technology Task Group to assess this sector.

The multifunctional report outlines the findings of the task group which consulted with academia and industry. The report provides recommendations for the materials community to take forward with the government's backing, such as prioritising materials for energy generation such as fuel-cells and piezoelectrics, with the continuity of funding.

The Science & Technology Group forms part of Materials UK and seeks to encourage innovation and R&D so that the UK can compete in the international marketplace.

The reports are available from Jackie Butterfield, Jackie.butterfield@iom3.org.
