Doncaster Council's 15,000 seater stadium, which is due for completion by main contractor, Carillion, by the end of 2006, has been designed to integrate sport and community facilities into a single, quality venue. In addition to providing a new home ground for Doncaster Lakers Rugby League Club, Doncaster Rovers Football Club, Doncaster Belles Ladies Football Club and Doncaster Athletic Club, it will provide wide-ranging educational and community facilities.
The main electrical and mechanical contractor for the project, LJ Monks Building Services Ltd, will use 1,300m of Cablofil steel wire tray in total, supplied through wholesalers Edmonsons. The cable tray will be installed around the stadium's perimeter on all three storeys of the new sports ground and installation of the cable management system will be completed in phases alongside construction work, with LJ Monks expected to be on site until the end of November.
Claire Thompson, Regional Sales Executive at Cablofil commented: "This stadium projects bring together best practice in sports venue design with a superb location and an innovative concept to combine professional sports with community recreation. The specification for the cable management system called for steel wire tray and as the contractor had used Cablofil products on previous installations, they were keen to ensure that Cablofil was the system of choice here too."
