Fundamentals of HVAC & Building Technology by the ECA will provide course participants with an understanding of the requirements of the building enclosure and building services installation, the principles of HVAC, and the functional principles of HVAC systems and their main components.
This is an assessed course - which leads to the Building Controls Industry Technical Certificate - and which gives an overview of the systems and technologies used in the heating, ventilating and air-conditioning industry. The course also covers building control and building management systems.
The course has been designed for all those involved in building controls or the building management industry that need to have a knowledge and understanding of the terminology, technologies and systems used, whether they are managers, designers, installation engineers or sales staff.
The course objectives:
At the end of the course, participants will:
- Understand the physical fundamentals associated with buildings usage.
- Understand the most important requirements of the building enclosure and building services installation.
- Understand the principles of HVAC, and the psychometric chart.
- Understand the functional principles of the most important HVAC systems and their main components.
- Understand the fundamentals of measurement and controls.
- Understand the purpose and basic variations of hydraulic circuits.
- Understand the basic refrigeration cycle.
