Look for alternative ways of working. Make sure you use the most appropriate tools for each job and minimise the time individuals are using potentially damaging equipment. For instance, by using more efficient products such as the Spit Pulsa 700E cordless gas nailer, your employees can notably speed up the installation of cable management and wiring accessories. And by using the Spit Pulsa 700E instead of traditional drilling you can work for 297 minutes without a break.
Our Spit Tapcon® Concrete Screw Anchors can significantly reduce your drill depth and diameters allowing your employees to install more anchors within the allowed HAV time.
You should always make sure tools are maintained to the manufacturers specifications to avoid worsening vibration.
For example:
- Replace vibration mounts before they are worn out.
- Ensure rotating parts are checked for balance and replace them if necessary.
- Get advice from the equipment manufacturer on safe use of the equipment.
- Introduce a purchasing policy specifying low vibration performance for new equipment.
WORKING AT HEIGHTS
H&S ‘Work at Height Regulations 2005’ apply to all work at height where there is a risk of a fall liable to cause personal injury.
H&S place duties on employers, the self-employed and anyone else who controls others working at height anywhere. This includes working below ground. Safety equipment including safety guards, scaffolding, harnesses, ropes etc. are required to prevent falls. Equipment has to be checked on a regular basis and reports recorded and kept for 3 months after the work is finished.
Spit has the ideal solution to these regulations for anyone using their Pulsa 700E cordless gas nailer. By attaching the specifically designed Pole system to the tool, the user can extend their reach by 1.93m which, when working on most overhead applications, means there would be no need to provide costly and time consuming safety equipment.
By using the Pole Tool System, direct overhead fastening in rooms with a height of up to 3.2m would present no problems for the user.
Current users of the Spit Pole Tool system report less fatigue and improved productivity when compared to working from scaffolding. As working from a moving scaffold usually requires two workers, using the Pole Tool from floor level means only one worker is required thus resulting in cost savings and increased efficiency.
The user is also able to move more easily around cluttered floor areas which is not so simple when working from a scaffold.
