To meet the ever-increasing demands of the domestic wiring market, Eaton has added a 17-way split-load consumer unit and 19-way in-line unit to its Memera 2000AD consumer unit range:

This new
Eaton 17-way split-load unit occupies the same footprint as the existing 14-way unit and offers the installer the same freedom for on-site configuration. Where even more ways are required, coupling kits are available to enable two
2000AD consumer unit enclosures to be coupled together to form a composite two-tier unit.
"The number of circuits in modern homes has increased significantly in recent years to include circuits for outdoor lighting, garages, alarm systems, Jacuzzis and numerous other applications" says Phil Williams,
Eaton's Product Manager for
Consumer Units. "The market trend is to use split-load consumer units, providing residual-current protection on a selected group of circuits. In addition, other devices such as contactors, programmable controllers, impulse relays, bell transformers and surge suppression devices may also be incorporated."
Innovative sub-circuit numbering system:
The unit has a 100A SPSN isolator as the main switch and a 30mA residual current circuit-breaker positioned at the opposite end of the enclosure. As with the existing 10-way and 14-way split-load units, the busbar can be split easily on site, at any position, to provide the required number of RCCB-protected ways. Thought to be unique to the Memera 2000 AD range is a sub-circuit numbering system whereby all isolator ways are numbered 1-19 while all RCCB-protected ways are numbered 21-39, working away from the isolator or RCCB respectively.
The 19-way in-line unit will be available with three options for the main switch - a 100A SPSN isolator, 100A/30mA RCCB or 100A/100mA RCCB, complementing the current range of 4-16 way units.
Memera 2000 AD is a stylish moulded consumer unit range designed to cover all normal residential needs with a rationalised list of enclosures and components suitable for on-site configuration. This simplifies the specification and stockholding of the range.
Many extra features:
The range incorporates numerous features designed to simplify installation including a removable pan assembly with quick-release fixings that allows protective devices to be installed away from the enclosure. The solid base requires no separate back plate and has flexible fixing points to simplify alignment and compensate for irregularities in the mounting surface. There are numerous cut-outs in the back plate, removable with a knife or hacksaw, and the cover incorporates additional cut-outs to allow for the use of larger trunking. The cover is equipped with 1/4 turn fasteners. All internal screws have combination screw heads. The earth bar is removable and the DIN mounting rail is positioned to allow maximum wiring space.
"As a company we are focusing on the AD range and investing in new ways to make life easier for the installer" says Phil Williams. "The new consumer unit sizes and the coupling kits are the latest step in that programme."
