Professional specifiers can now take on-line CPD-accredited courses on Part L from the comfort of their own workstations – thanks to innovative heating specialist Applied Energy – one of the first UK HVAC companies to de-mystify Part L in this way.

“Our aim is to provide surveyors, M&E consultants and specifiers with facts and practical skills to enable them to de-bunk the barrage of regulations surrounding Part L – and gain CPD accreditation at the same time,” said business manager Richard Scott.
“Successful completion of our on-line Part L course provides one hour of accredited CPD time – without the inconvenience of having to take time out to physically attend courses. The benefits are enormous.”
The web-based course is fully interactive and includes comprehensive and detailed course notes on Part L. Specifiers simply log on to www.applied-energy.com to access the course – successful completion of which results in a printed certificate giving them their one hour of accredited CPD time.
One striking aspect of Part L and the new Building Regulations is the method of demonstrating compliance. Individual buildings will be set a Target Carbon Emission Rate which must not be exceeded if building control approval is to be granted. Applied Energy’s new on-line course focuses on how to achieve this using ‘low to zero carbon’ technologies such as solar thermal collectors, whole house heat recovery systems or ground source heat-pumps and renewable energy in the form of electricity.
Added Scott, “This is another publication in our ‘Insight’ range of brochures and on-line training resources – designed to empower all our customers in advance of Part L coming into effect in April this year. The course is extremely simple to access and is a fast and convenient way to become Part L familiar.”
This latest innovation follows the launch of the Decent Homes Standards Module for professional planners, also available on-line with full CPD accreditation.
