Gloucester-based electrical contractor, Clarkson Evans, has been crowned England's best medium-sized employer for practical learning by Jamie Oliver and Simon Woodroffe-backed initiative, the Edge Employer Awards:
The company, which has trained over 250 apprentices since 1998, received a £50,000 national award after beating hundreds of organisation from across the country. It will invest the money in new training facilities and school events aimed at encouraging more young people to join the profession. Clarkson Evans prides itself on offering more apprenticeship places each year than any other employer in Gloucestershire. Practical training is offered throughout the business and activities with local schools extend learning opportunities to hundreds of young people. Edge's investment comes as perfect timing to equip the company's new practical training centre with an unparalleled range of resources to truly inspire anyone who walks through its doors.
A breath of fresh air:
Clarkson Evans Training Centre Manager, Lindsey Young, commented: "The Edge Employer Awards has been a breath of fresh air. Clarkson Evans Training Centre Manager, Lindsey Young, and Apprentice, Stuart Carroll, collected a National Winner trophy and cheque for £50,000 during a star-studded ceremony at Old Billingsgate in London. They also collected a Regional Winner trophy, as Edge Employer Awards medium category winner for the South West.
