Voltimum Founder Member Company, Schneider Electric, has been awarded a five-year contract from ScottishPower for the supply of its 33kV and 11kV switchgear:
This major project for Schneider Electric is part of the asset replacement programme for the SP Manweb network, which covers Merseyside and North Wales.
Under this new framework contract, Schneider Electric's Projects and Services will provide a complete switchroom, which will be fully tested and commissioned in its Leeds manufacturing facility, prior to being shipped to the site. This will include stringent testing of the remote control functionality directly from the ScottishPower Control Centre via a communication link.
The supply of the market leading 33kV and 11kV Schneider Electric switchgear will aid SP Manweb's provision of an efficient, reliable and safe network.
Schneider Electric's SF6 switchgear:
For 33kV applications, ScottishPower will benefit from CBGS-0 SF6 switchgear from the Merlin Gerin brand of Schneider Electric, which will also be used by the energy giant for the connection of wind farms to its 33kV networks in Scotland and North Wales.
GenieEvo vacuum circuit breakers, also from Merlin Gerin, will be used on the 11kV switchboards for the SP Manweb project. Both these and the CBGS-0 SF6 switchgear will be equipped with Merlin Gerin branded Sepam protection relays. These will communicate via serial link to a Schneider Electric Talus C10 substation controller.
