The latest industry leading generation of high brightness LED light sources have been used in the new ranges, which combined with the latest Xitanium ™ LED drivers, can provide a very high level of control.
The new LED Modules and Components come in a wide variety of colors and offer dynamic, flexible and long life lighting solutions making it easy to change the light intensity and create lighting that compliments the time of day or establishes a desired ambiance and mood.
The new Philips LED Modules are highly versatile, self contained lighting systems that are easily connected to each other in flexible "domino" like arrays, with almost any combination being possible. LED Modules can also easily be integrated into luminaire or architectural designs because Philips has taken care of the optical, thermal and mechanical issues. Applications areas include shop lighting, specifically for accent & decorative, showcase and general orientation lighting and outdoor lighting, specifically for decorative and architectural lighting.
In addition to the range of modules, Philips has also announced a range of LED Components. These printed circuit boards offer even more design freedom to the original equipment manufacturer.
Both ranges come with DALI and DMX compatible control interfaces, and run on the latest Philips Xitanium™ LED drivers. These 17W and 40W drivers transform the mains supply into stable 24V DC on which the ranges are operated.
The LED Modules and Components include the use of warm white, high brightness LEDs with color rendering in the 90’s. These LEDs are 10 times brighter than the best LEDs of just five years ago and this rate of progress is set to continue. Recent technology breakthroughs mean that today’s LEDs provide all colors with a high degree of saturation, making them ideal for color mixing. At the same time efficiency is improving and already exceeds tungsten halogen in this area.
"LED Modules and Components are a very exciting development" says Marc Passet Philips European LEDs development manager. "The scope for lighting design and luminaire development are greater than ever before".
LED Modules will be available in different shapes (1x4 LEDs in a rectangle and 2x2 LEDs in a square or single LED executions) with 1W and 3W versions and colours for the 1W of warm white, cool white, red, blue, green and amber, with the 3W available in cool white, blue and green. Built in optics offer narrow, medium wide and line beams. An IP rating of 67 and a long life - eg for the new 1W types, 35,000 hours with a lumen maintenance of 70% and < 5% failure rate.
