Over 90 ECA members and sponsors from Croydon, London and Essex met up at Surrey National Golf Club to bid for sporting memorabilia and play for the Ron Applebee Memorial cup.

Ron was a past ECA branch chairman and Greater London regional chairman, as well as being a Director of ABB-Stewards.

Malcolm Conby, regional manager for the ECA commented: "It was a great day, and everybody enjoyed themselves in a competitive but friendly competition. I'd like to say a special thanks to all our main sponsors Estimation Ltd and PowerPoint Electrical wholesalers, who made the event possible."

A sports themed auction was arranged by ECA member Paul Antino and items sold included a Wayne Rooney shirt, an Ernie Els Box set, a signed Tiger Woods photo and an England shirt.

The funds raised at the event will be divided between The Geoff Smith Foundation, a local children's cancer charity, and The Electrical and Electronics Industries Benevolent Association (EEIBA).

The Ron Applebee Memorial trophy was awarded to the overall winner on the day, Tony Ridgeway from Inviron Ltd.
