ABB has added an emergency stop (E-stop) pushbutton to its Compact range of pilot devices. The new pushbutton is part of the 22mm compact range aimed at OEMs and panel builders.

The E-stop pushbutton along with the rest of the Compact range is available in a "one piece" design as opposed to conventional four part pushbuttons. This "all-in-one" function results in less stock keeping and simpler installation for the OEM and panel builder due to fewer parts, while maintaining compliance with IEC60947-5-5. For the end user, the robustness of the emergency stop button is a critical component because its failure can have severe implications. The "one piece" design feature means that the risk of malfunction caused by dislocation of the contact blocks is eliminated.

All devices have a low built-in depth of 42mm. In order to meet the exact specification of suppliers and installers, ABB's Compact range comes in a variety of versions and colours with an extensive range of accessories. The pilot devices, which provideIP66 protection as standard, offer a choice between black or genuine chrome metal bezels and contain either one or two built-in electrically separated contacts with a "wiping" action that works to prolong the life span of the contacts.

The pushbutton devices with the range are available in maintained or momentary mode and can be flush or extended. Emergency stop buttons offer "twist release" "pull release" and "key release" in both 30mm and 40mm variations.

Selector switches come in two or three position settings and are also available as maintained or momentary devices. The pilot lights feature a dedicated coloured LED which provides superior colour quality compared with a white LED and coloured lens combination, while offering a service life of at least 50kh. The LED pilot lights are available in red, green, yellow, blue and white to suit a range of voltages including 12V DC, 24V AC/DC, 48V AC/DC, 60V AC/DC, 110-130V AC, 110-130V DC and 230V AC.

The Compact range pilot lights are available with filament bulbs ranging from 6-130V with a rated current of 15-200mA. In addition to LEDs and bulbs, other accessories include: protective membrane, a mounting tool, 30mm adapters, a lamp changing tool and legend plates. Existing ABB modular pilot devices can easily be combined with this new range as they have been manufactured using the same front design. With representation in more than 130 countries ABB's Compact Range is widely available and meets all major national and international standards
