he life of filament lamps is directly related to the temperature of the filament coil and the higher the voltage the higher the temperature and shorter the lamp life i.e. 5% over voltage equals 50% reduction in lamp life.Back to top>>

For fluorescent and other discharge lamps that are operated via control gear the effect on life is small, especially if the control gear is designed to match the actual supply voltage.
