Philips Lighting’s TTX400 pre-wired trunking system and luminaries have been used to light New Wave Logistics
’Brackmills warehouse – with, according to New Waves’ Managing Director Malcolm Wilson, considerable savings both in time and in installation c
The brief was to complete the work in the shortest possible time with minimal disruption, and in the most cost-effective manner. Warehouse lighting needs to be flexible, to cater for the totally different lighting design requirements of storage racking and open areas with stock control computers, and also needs to be completed as quickly as possible. With pre-wired, pre-assembled trunking, the bulk actual installation is a quick in-and-out job Philips Lighting’s TTX 400 system uses electrical units housing lamps and gear that can be clicked into the trunking system to provide the necessary flexibility. A wide range of specular reflectors for high-bay racking, louvres for general lighting optics for computer areas is available for these units, that also simply click into place onto the electrical units. This system not only speeds initial installation, but also provides in-built flexibility for the future. If the floor layout changes at any time, electrical units can be moved and their attachments changed as a quick overnight job, without the use of tools. For the Brackmills warehouse, electrical contractors Chapco completed the installation of 7.5km of trunking, luminaires and reflectors in the 185,000 sq.m building. The trunking was fitted with 3,600 Philips electrical units, each with twin TL5 54W lamps and GMX 565 narrow or wide beam high efficiency hammer-bow reflectors. Average illuminance achieved is 250 lux, with the added benefits of a vastly improved, safer working environment and a REDUCTION in total installed load of 20% compared to the previous proposal for high pressure sodium. Malcolm Wilson, Managing Director of New Wave Logistics, comments: Philips Lighting was the first choice when we came to source new lighting at our Brackmills site. Their TTX continuous lighting system, not only gave us a better quality of light compared to our existing sodium lit distribution centres, it exceeded our expectations in terms of speed of installation and capital cost. Comments from both key employees and customers are extremely positive and I am 100% sure we will be incorporating this product in all future New Wave Logistics sites.
