Single, double, triple and four pole versions and can help to avoid the requirement for a separate panel board (04 Nov 02)

The new S280 miniature circuit breakers (MCBs) from ABB are the first to provide over-current protection for equipment and cables up to 100A within a standard width (17.5 mm) single-pole module. The new higher current ratings of the extended S280 range, which also includes double, triple and four pole versions, offer a unique capability to create compact distribution boards for a wide variety of commercial and industrial applications.

The S280 MCBs are rated for either 80 or 100 A with a breaking capacity of 6 kA in accordance to BS EN 60898, and are available with tripping characteristics B, C and D. They are ideally suited for installation in ABB’s Protecta final distribution boards or can simply be mounted on standard top hat DIN rail.

In common with the other MCBs in ABB’s well established S260 and S270 ranges, the extended S280 series can be coupled with the same shared series of auxiliary elements and accessories to provide a variety of functions and configurations. These typically include: auxiliary contacts, signal contacts, shunt trips and under-voltage releases etc.
