In its continued commitment to helping UK businesses reduce energy waste in order to significantly improve bottom lines, Schneider Electric has launched the PowerLogic branch circuit power meter (BCPM), an optimised final circuit monitoring solution for commercial applications.
Placing the customer firmly in control, the PowerLogic BCPM is a full featured metering system which enables users to monitor, plan and optimise the use of critical power infrastructure to meet the demands of continuous availability.
Unique to the market, it enables the customer to monitor up to 84 branch circuits using a single device and also monitors the incoming mains power to provide information from a complete power distribution unit (PDU). This means users can gain a quick, holistic overview of energy usage, in order to determine any inherent operational or utilisation issues and if appropriate, allocate energy costs at a final circuit level.
A further feature is flexibility. The innovative system fits any high performance PDU or remote power panel (RPP) and has been designed to meet the restrictions of multi-circuit with minimal space requirements; this means significantly reduced total installation cost.
Preventative maintenance is another advantage as full alarming capabilities ensure that potential issues are dealt with before they become problems.
For added convenience, Powerlogic BCPM can be easily integrated into existing networks and using IONe Power Management software, allows remote monitoring. This enables users to quickly and easily turn a large amount of data collected by the devices into useful, strategic decision-making information.
David Lewis, marketing development manager for energy efficiency at Schneider Electric comments: “It is estimated that 30 per cent of the energy that companies purchase is wasted which, as energy prices continue to soar, carries major financial implications.
“With this in mind, we have developed the Powerlogic BCPM to simplify the metering process for critical power applications with typically complex power infrastructures. It effectively puts the customer in control, allowing users to clearly understand energy usage and identify patterns and trends, giving them the ability to control consumption and costs.”
