Electricity Market Reform: Technical Notes

The Energy and Climate Change Committee will hold a one-off oral evidence session to look at the Electricity Market Reform Technical Update at 10.15 am on Tuesday 24 January 2012 in Committee Room 17, Palace of Westminster.



The Department of Energy and Climate Change published Planning our electric future: technical update on 15 December. This inquiry will follow up on the Committee’s Fourth Report of Session 2010–12, Electricity Market Reform, HC 742, published on 16 May 2011.
 
Which issues will be covered?

Is the System Operator the most appropriate delivery body for Feed-in Tariffs with

Contracts for Difference and for a capacity mechanism?

What will the main challenges be for the institution entrusted with the delivery of the Electricity Market Reform policies?

How will the Government’s choice of capacity mechanism affect security of supply and affordability.
