Leeds’ famous Elland Road Stadium is undergoing a major redevelopment of its East Stand, including an upgrade and expansion of the existing fire alarm and emergency systems. Both are being installed with Prysmian’s 2 and 4 core FP200 Gold®.
Cost effective, FP200 Gold® complies with fire alarm standard, BS 5839, emergency lighting standard, BS 5266 and is BASEC & LPCB approved whilst also possessing superb voice and data transmission characteristics. This represents the hard skin standard fire resistant cable, incorporating unique Insudite™ insulation.
Designed by architects KSS Group at a cost of £7million, the improvement of Elland Road is designed to improve the match day experience for fans as well as providing additional facilities to support Leeds United FC.
Elland Road has a match-day capacity of 39,402 and with people also using the venue throughout the year this high profile scheme requires the best life protection systems available. That’s why Wakefield based contractor Powerplus is installing a Vigilon fire alarm system and Baldwin Boxall disabled refuge outstations.
Jon Field, Director at Powerplus, the contractor carrying out the work, says: “In fact, FP200 Gold® is my company’s preferred choice of cable for every project we undertake. It’s easy to work with, competitively priced and comes with all required third party approvals.”
Jon and his team started installing 5,000m of FP200 Gold® cable back in July and completion is expected this year. Once finished, Elland Road will offer brand new conferencing and banqueting facilities, shops and club offices, a nightclub and two hotels.
