Robust TuffMaster upgraded to IP66

When the going gets tough it’s time to turn to TuffMaster, the seriously hardy range of IP rated waterproof switches and sockets that has seen its ingress protection rating upgraded to the mighty IP66 standard.

This means users can be confident that TuffMaster products are totally dust resistant and able to withstand strong water jets and waves, making them an ideal and economic choice for a wide variety of uses where electrical sockets may come into contact with dust and/or water.

“TuffMaster products are a great choice for protecting the integrity of electrical supplies and connections in both indoor/outdoor locations and those exposed to arduous environmental conditions,” said Jeremy Dodge, Head of Marketing and Technical Services. “They are perfect for use in homes, gardens, around patios and swimming pool surrounds as well as industrial, agricultural and commercial buildings. They meet wiring and Building Regulations for RCD protection. And now that the range has products approved to IP66 standards, users have peace of mind that electrical supplies are totally protected against dust and strong jets of water.”

The TuffMaster range, from Marshall-Tufflex, comprises various combinations of switches and sockets, singles, twins and triples with further combinations including RCD protected units. They are robust, UV resistant and performance tested to temperature extremes of –40°C to +70°C, making them an ideal choice for installations requiring protection up to IP66. TuffMaster enclosure lids combine a special seal material with a unique locking action to create constant pressure on the seals and ensure water and dust cannot penetrate the enclosures. The seal returns to its original profile when released from pressure, ensuring a good seal forms when the lid or cover is closed, providing full protection even when different cable sizes and profiles are used. Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) resin seals are used as bungs and cable glands to ensure IP compliance.

Supplying mains power to exterior locations, or areas where electrical sockets may be exposed to dust or water, calls for a robust system to provide a safe solution - and there’s none more capable than the tried-and-tested TuffMaster range, which is available from all good electrical distributors.
