Hosted by Lux Magazine and the Lighting Industry Federation (LIF), the event celebrated architectural lighting schemes in the UK and overseas as well as lighting technology, including fittings, lamps and controllers.
Philips SpeedStar picked up the 'Exterior Luminaire of the Year' award which recognised the most ground-breaking exterior light fitting, whilst Philips MASTER LED 12W lamp won the 'Controls and Light Source of the Year' category. Ian Mills and Ozge Suzen from the product management team collected the respective awards on behalf of Philips.
The judging panel described Philips SpeedStar as "beautifully constructed with lots of attention to detail". SpeedStar is an energy-efficient luminaire requiring minimal maintenance and incorporates the easy-to-upgrade LEDGINE platform. This carbon-neutral luminaire is the ideal solution for functional road and street lighting.
Philips MASTER LED 12W lamp was praised for excellent light distribution with the panel offering the view that "Philips has cracked the nut with this LED lamp". It offers bright, instant light to directly replace 60W incandescent lamps, providing up to 80% energy savings.
Philips Lighting also sponsored the 'Lux Rising Star' category, a prestigious honour for an emerging talent within the industry which was won be Ben Stephens of 'Light & Design Associates', beating off competition from Luke Artingstall (BDP) and Christopher Knowlton (CKLD).
We are delighted that two of our products have been recognised as setting the standard for innovation, creativity and energy efficiency in lighting and thank you to everyone who visited our stand at LuxLive 2011. |
