Sometimes buying a raffle ticket just doesn’t seem enough, and that’s exactly what the Wilts team thought when they heard about the Royal United Hospital’s appeal for a replacement neo-natal intensive care unit.
Over the past 12 months, Trowbridge-based Wilts has hosted an array of fundraising events in a bid to raise as much cash as possible for the cause. ‘Highlights’ include; men in dresses, morris dancing and a pumpkin carving challenge, as well as a number of ‘hair-raising’ moments – including one staff member shaving off his treasured, 21 year old moustache!
The ‘Buy a Baby Brick’ scheme - part of the Forever Friends Appeal to raise enough money for a Space to Grow campaign at the hospital – was launched by parents of children who spent their first days in the NICU.
Anyone donating at least £10 will have ‘bought a brick’ for the new building, receiving a certificate as well as their name immortalised in the unit. Likewise, £100 buys a row, and £1000 a whole wall, which is exactly what the Wilts team is proud to report.
Ruth Ovens, HR Director at Wilts, commented; “We are always keen to flex our fundraising muscle at Wilts, but for this cause we just wanted to go that extra mile. A scheme such as this really does tug at the heart strings and both myself and the staff are delighted to have raised all we could for the RUH appeal. Many thanks to all those involved in this year’s efforts!”
