Wilts, the UK’s largest privately owned electrical wholesaler, has announced the appointment of Matt Nichols as Managing Director. Joining this month, Matt is from Hagley, West Midlands and has two children.
Matt, 49, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role, from a career spent in wholesaling businesses servicing the construction sector. Initially with Newey & Eyre, where starting as a trainee in the branch network he progressed through branch management, area and regional directors roles until eventually taking his place on the board. Having worked throughout the country and subsequently being involved in board level acquisition and business development roles for both Newey & Eyre and more latterly Wolseley UK, Matt is well-known within the industry and brings know how and credibility to his new role as Wilts Managing Director.
Speaking of his appointment, Matt said; “Wilts is a business I have known for years with a reputation for customer service as well as for the quality of its staff. Initial impressions are of a team passionate to see Wilts returned to its former glories. “
He continued; “Like many businesses across the UK and beyond, Wilts has been through a tough time recently, however we are fighting back and working hard to get back on track. With a new business development function, our new quarterly publication, ‘Spotlight’, further investment in telemarketing and a continual strong emphasis on getting our teams back to the basics of wholesaling and focusing on what they do best - servicing our customers - we are moving in the right direction. The future will be challenging but I’m looking forward to helping to steer Wilts through and into the brighter future I know we can achieve.”
Nick Winks, CEO, welcomed the recruitment of Matt Nichols saying; “Having someone with Matt’s pedigree and reputation will be a great asset to the business and another important step to rebuild Wilts as the premier independent wholesaler in the country.”
