Standards for the connection of electric vehicles

BEAMA

In this PowerPoint, CENELEC, the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardisation, examines the evolving standards for the connection of electric vehicles (EVs) for charging. Standards will help EVs achieve their full potential. This presentation was shown at Beama's 'Low Carbon Living - a Smart Revolution for all' conference earlier this year:

CENELEC, which is responsible for standardisation in the electrotechnical engineering field, looks in this PowerPoint at the whole issue of standards in general, the 'standardisers', and the various European standards organisations, it poses the questions: 'What Is A Standard?' and 'why European Standards?'

This presentation, therefore, covers standards for electric vehicles, regulation, the European Mandate, the Joint Working Group CEN-CENELEC, with the participation of ISO, IEC and ETSI, plus the organisation and timescale.

The presentation then examines the design and use of connectors for charging 'on the wall', connectors on the vehicles and charger and vehicle to grid issues, finally asking: 'What will we end up with?'
