EMCOR Group (UK) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded an extension to its facilities management contract with Tube Lines, now part of Transport for London, continuing a longstanding relationship, which started in 2004.

The £12 million, two-year contract extension includes the delivery of pre-planned maintenance, reactive maintenance, and minor project works to all 130 stations on the Jubilee, Northern, and Piccadilly underground lines. These lines cover more than 103 miles across London*, servicing more than 500 million passengers a year*. EMCOR will work with Tube Lines to help deliver the large-scale improvement programme, by providing essential mechanical and electrical maintenance and upgrade work, helping to yield significant cost and efficiency savings across the project. EMCOR UK provides facilities management and engineering services to a diverse range of private and public sector organisations.

EMCOR was selected for this contract as a result of its proven ability to deliver technical and innovative solutions, as well as its in-depth working knowledge of Tube Lines’ assets.  Under the terms of the contract, EMCOR UK will be responsible for the maintenance of depots, tunnel vent shafts and other non-public buildings, and includes repairs to tunnel lamps, vent fans, air conditioning, critical uninterruptable power supply (UPS) systems and sub-surface pump systems and all associated controls. EMCOR’s team of engineers will also be responsible for providing 24/7 emergency cover for all mechanical and electrical assets 365 days of the year.

Further, EMCOR will be implementing a number of lean and efficient working practices and support systems to deliver a range of tangible benefits, such as reducing costs by consolidating the number of suppliers and forming close relationships with key suppliers to optimise service delivery. Utilising EMCOR’s Key Account Management (KAM) programme, a strategic initiative dedicated to business partnering excellence, EMCOR has built a collaborative working relationship with Tube Lines, which is mutually beneficial in delivering value and sharing expertise.

Nick Morris, Managing Director for EMCOR Facilities Services, said: “Our long-term collaborative relationship with Tube Lines is going from strength to strength. This is testament to our reputation for consistently delivering both operational and cost efficiencies, as well as our speed of response and comprehensive understanding of our customers’ complex technical environments. It is imperative that we continue to look for ways to improve our delivery to every customer and the introduction of our Key Account Management programme, which has been embraced by our Tube Lines team, is one of the drivers in extending our portfolio of works with them.”

EMCOR builds collaborative relationships with its customers to continually develop and shape its services and support the efficiency of their organisations. EMCOR is the first facilities management provider to be awarded BS 11000 by the British Standards Institution - the world's first relationship management standard for creating and maintaining successful business-to-business partnerships.
