SummitSkills will accept Functional Skills as an equivalent to Key Skills for those candidates/new starts registering on our existing apprenticeship frameworks up to 31 March 2011. However, our existing frameworks have NOT been amended to include Functional Skills.
Functional Skills will be a mandatory component of the revised SASE compliant frameworks from April 2011.
It should also be noted that funding for Key Skills will continue for new starts on our existing frameworks until 31 March 2011, but funding for the delivery of Functional Skills in an existing apprenticeship programme will not be available.
Funding for the delivery of Functional Skills within an apprenticeship programme will be available from April 2011 as appropriate to the approval of our revised SASE compliant frameworks.
