As we look forward to 2011, lets see what 2010 has meant for Learninglounge.com

This year LearningLounge.com, has had over 117 colleges subscribe in the UK, with a count of 700 Lecturers and an audience of up 30,000 using the UK's Biggest Online Electro-Technical Training Resource.

 

Learninglounge.com is always evolving to help improve user interaction with the site and content of videos.

 

·         Video content is now searchable by course syllabus; C&G 2357 level III, C&G 2330 level II & III, C&G 2381 &2382, C&G 2377, SVQ level III and BTEC level 2 Diploma in Engineering.

 

This year LearningLounge.com has released a number of new detailed technical videos, which are available to view now, including;

·         The Practical Skills Series. Produced with the help of Central Sussex College and production partnered with Elecsa, cover topics such as; Preparing and Terminating Twin and CPC Cables, Mineral Insulated Cables, Steel Wired Amoured Cables and Preparing and Installing a Steel Conduit Wiring System.

·         Understanding and Filling in Domestic Certificate and Report Forms

·         Schedule of Items Inspected

·         An Introduction to Protection for Safety and Fault Protection

·         Safe Isolation Procedures

·         Basic Mechanics

Plus a number of updates to older videos to comply with the changes in the 17th Edition.

LearningLounge.com also saw the launch of the Safe Isolation Simulator. The software allows the user to operate all functions of a 17th edition consumer unit, and operate a voltage checker and proving unit on a number of accessories within a domestic property.

In March of this year, Learninglounge.com, Industry leaders, employers and  training providers gathered at the British Library to celebrate talented individuals in the building services engineering sector at the Summit Skills National Training Awards. This year the winner of Electrotechnical Operative of the Year 2010 went to Sam Edwards, employee of Bailey Building Services, a subscribed centre of several years to learningLounge.com.

2010 also saw Learninglounge.com presenter and NICEIC Senior Engineer, Tony Cable, feature in Rogue Traders, as part of BBC1's Watchdog, but do not Panic! Tony wasn't the electrician being caught out on hidden cameras. Tony was helping Matt Allwright and Dan Penteado to catch a "dodgy" electrician in the act.

So what does 2011 hold for LearningLounge.com?

New Videos! - With the upcoming amendments to the 17th Edition, Learninglounge.com users can look forward to new videos and updates covering the changes. Including a video detailing Surge Protective Devices (SPDs), which is already in production, Late in July the crew, Dave Austin and NICEIC’s Tony Cable flew out to Blomberg in Germany to visit one of Phoenix Contact’s  Manufacturing and test sites. This video will be available to all LearningLounge.com subscribers early 2011. Plus Much, Much More...So Watch This Space.
